Life Group Questions

1. If you could not hear this week’s sermon, consider going to the church website and listening to it. What main ideas did you gain from the message? Do you have any questions?

2. Describe the purpose of prayer. Why does God want us to pray to Him? Does God need us to tell Him our needs? Why or why not? Does God need or even want our opinion about things? Explain.

3. List at least five things that should be a part of our prayers. What are some things for which God wants us to pray? What are some of the most important things that you pray for?

4. Why is it important that Manoah prayed to the Lord after his wife spoke of her encounter with the Messenger? How well do you do at making prayer a priority? Do you need to do better at responding with prayer to God when circumstances arise (cf. Numbers 11:1-2; 1 Samuel 8:1-6; Daniel 6:1-10)?

5. Describe the nature and importance of prayer to the early Apostles in Acts 4. Do you sense that we have the same attitude of prayer today? Why or why not? List at least three things that stand out to you from Acts 4.

6. What is God’s grace? Why is grace so important to the Christian? Read the following passages and mention some important aspects of grace and its role in our lives: Psalm 4:1; 119:58; Hebrews 4:16; 1 Corinthians 15:10.

7. As a parent, what were some of Manoah’s concerns? What lacking did he sense for properly raising his coming son? Can you sense that Manoah had faith or had a sense of responsibility? List some things that we should pray for our children. Are you willing and committed to faithfully pray for your children?

8. What are some prayer needs that you have? List some areas of spiritual discipline and practice for which you need prayer. Take some time to pray and seek the Lord’s will for you life. Ask the Lord to open your eyes to His desire for your life.
