Life Group Questions

1. If you could not hear this week’s sermon, consider going to the church website and listening to it. What main ideas did you gain from the message? What observations do you notice as you study through the passage. Do you have any questions?

2. Recall some mighty things the Lord has done in your life? How did the Lord bring you through them? What was your response to Him when He did?

3) In the narrative with Deborah, Barak and the people, how did the Lord motivate them to action (cf.Judges 4:6, 14, 5:12, 13-15)? Are you a naturally motivated person, or do you need a little nudge at times?

4. Notice the commands in vs. 10-12 to proclaim what the Lord has done. Why do you think the Lord wants us to continue remembering and proclaiming His “righteous triumphs” (Psalm 105:1-2, Psalm 71:15-16, Matthew 28:19-20)? When was the last time you were able to share with someone else (cf. Ephesians 2:5)?

5. Share an example of a time when you were obedient to following where the Lord was leading you (ex. mission trip, job move, sharing the gospel, church move, etc.). How difficult was this for you? How do you know the Lord was leading you in this way? What passages help you in difficult times like this? (Proverbs 3:5-6, Psalm 25:4-5, 1 Peter 5:6-7.)

6. In our passage we see that some of “the people” did not engage in battle against their enemies (cf. Judges 5:16-17, 23). Why do you think they did this? Being busy is not necessarily sinful, but what are some things you might be “too busy” doing?

7. How does 1 Corinthians 15:58 encourage you to not be idle and to serve the Lord where He is calling you to serve? What promise does this verse provide to those who are serving? What are some things the Lord might be leading you to obey Him in?
