1. If you were not able to hear this week’s sermon, consider going to the church website and listening to it. What main ideas did you gain from the message? Do you have any questions?

2. Describe David’s general attitude in this passage. How did he view the battle in which he was involved? What were his thoughts about God’s responsibility in the battle? How would you describe David’s confidence in the Lord?

3. What did David mean when he said the battle is the Lord’s? Read Exodus 14 and 2 Chronicles 20:1-15. Do you sense that the Lord is with you in your battles? Why is it crucial to turn responsibility for the battle over to the Lord (cf. Matthew 11:28)?

4. What are some of the names of God, and what is their significance? Why is the name of the Lord so powerful (cf. Proverbs 18:10; Acts 4:12)? What does it mean to believe in the name of Jesus (cf. John 1:12; 20:31)?

5. Is it correct to say that salvation is completely of the Lord (cf. Jonah 2:9; Psalm 3:8; Revelation 7:9-12)? Does man have a part and responsibility in salvation (cf. John 1:12-13)? Elaborate on your answer. Do you have any struggles with this topic?

6. What are some ways in which God makes His name known to people? How can we help others know the name of God? What is the importance of making God’s name known (cf. Matthew 28:19-20)?
