Life Group Questions

1. If you were not able to hear this week’s sermon, consider going to the church website and listening to it. What main ideas did you gain from the message? Do you have any questions?

2. Why do you think this passage is called the “Triumphal Entry” of Jesus? Does this seem like a glorious entry? Would this entry impress the world by its standards?

3. Read Zechariah 9:9, which Matthew cites in this passage. What parts of the Old Testament passage did Matthew leave out? Why do you think Matthew only quoted part of the passage?

4. What is it about Jesus that made people think He was a prophet? Was Jesus a prophet? List at least five ways Jesus was similar to Moses (cf. Deuteronomy 18:18).

5. Why should we be impressed by Jesus Christ’s humility? What are some things that help us measure the depth of His humility (cf. Colossians 1:16-17; Philippians 2:5-8)? In what ways do you struggle with humility? Why is it important for us to grow in humility?

6. Describe the zeal of Jesus Christ (cf. Isaiah 59:16-17; Psalm 69:9-12; Luke 9:51). What was Jesus passionate about? What were His priorities, and how did they determine His words, attitudes and actions? Would you describe yourself as zealous for God (cf. Philippians 3)? Explain.

7. Why is Jesus worthy of so much honor and praise (cf. Psalm 8; Hebrews 3:3; Revelation 5)? What are some tangible ways in which we can honor Christ with our lives? How are you specifically honoring Christ with your life now?
