Life Group Questions

1. If you could not hear this week’s sermon, consider going to the church website and listening to it. What main ideas did you gain from the message? Do you have any questions?

2. When you hear the subject of the Holy Spirit brought up, what comes to your mind? According to Acts 5:3-4, who is the Holy Spirit? Read the following passages: Psalm 139:7-8; 1 Corinthians 2:9-11; Luke 12:11-12; John 16:13; Acts 13:2; Romans 8:26; Ephesians 4:30; 1 Thessalonians 5:19; Luke 12:10. What do these passages teach us about the Holy Spirit?

3. What are your thoughts about the Holy Spirit being revealed on the pages of Scripture hundreds of times from Genesis 1:2 to Revelation 22:17? Name and discuss some of your favorite passages about the Spirit of God.

4. Read John 16:8-11 and Acts 2:36-37. Discuss what it means for the Holy Spirit to convict the world. Define how you have experienced the conviction of the Holy Spirit in your life.

5. Read John 3:3-6 and 1 Peter 1:3. Define what it means to be “born again.” Read the following passages: Titus 3:4-6; Romans 8:8-9; 1 Corinthians 3:16; 12:13; Ephesians 1:13-14; 4:30. Name and discuss the blessings that come to those who are “born again.”

6. Read Ephesians 5:18. Discuss what it means to be filled with the Holy Spirit. Read Psalm 119:11; Galatians 5:16; Colossians 3:2, 16. How can you keep being filled with the Holy Spirit? Read Ephesians 5:19 – 6:9. Name the results of being filled with the Holy
Spirit.

7. Read Galatians 5:19-25. Discuss the contrast between the works of the flesh and the fruit of the Spirit.

8. The gifts of the Spirit are recorded in Romans 12:6-8; 1 Corinthians 12:8-10, 28; Ephesians 4:11; and 1 Peter 4:10-11. What responsibilities are ours toward the spiritual gifts according to 1 Peter 4:10? What spiritual gift(s) do you possess? How are you using the gifts which God has given you?
