Life Group Questions

1. If you were not able to hear this week’s sermon, consider going to the church website and listening to it. What main ideas did you gain from the message? Do you have any questions?

2. In what kind of things does God take pleasure (cf. Psalm 51:6; 135:6)? What does it mean that God delights in people (cf. Numbers 14:8; 2 Samuel 22:20; 1 Kings 10:9; Psalm 22:8)? Would you say that God finds pleasure in you? Explain.

3. Describe some of Saul’s traits in dealing with David. Does this seem like a healthy relationship? What was the source of friction between Saul and David? Have you ever struggled with an attitude like Saul had toward David? How should we respond when we have ill feelings toward another person?

4. Why is it important to understand that God not only will not lie but is incapable of lying (cf. Numbers 23:19; Titus 1:2; Hebrews 6:17-18)? How should knowing that God is a God of truth comfort and encourage us (cf. Psalm 111:7-8; 119:160; John 1:14; 14:6)?

5. Do you believe that God desires good for you? If so, what does it mean that God desires good for us (cf. Jeremiah 29:11; Romans 8:28; 2 Peter 3:9 Genesis 50:20)? What kind of gifts does God give to His children (cf. James 1:17; Matthew 7:11)? List some of the good gifts that God has given to you and take time to thank Him.

6. What is the basis for saying that Christians are precious to God and that He values us (cf. Genesis 1:26-27; Matthew 6:26)? How does Christ make us precious and valuable to God (cf. 1 Peter 1:7; 2:4; Ephesians 1:7-19)?

7. Read the following passages and describe areas where God wants you to grow in your relationship with Him: Galatians 5:16-26 and Colossians 3:12-15.
