Life Group Questions

1. If you were not at this week’s sermon, consider going to the church website and listening to it. What main ideas did you gain from the message? Do you have any questions?

2. Describe how this passage relates to the previous section extending back to Hebrews 2:16. How does this passage prepare us for the next section?

3. What were some of the duties of the priests in biblical times? What was their function at the tabernacle and temple? What was unique about the high priest’s position? How does the writer want us to associate these ideas with Christ?

4. Why is Jesus designated “great” along with high priest? What makes Him greater, or better, than all the other high priests. Consider the following passages: Hebrews 8:1-2; 10:19-22.

5. List at least three characteristics of Jesus from our passage. What stands out to you about Him most?

6. The writer encourages us to grasp or take hold of our confession in Christ. What exactly is our confession (cf. Hebrews 10:23; 1 John 2:23; 4:15)? State your confession about Jesus Christ. How does our confession give us confidence and hope?

7. Explain the meaning and manner of drawing near to the throne of grace (cf. Hebrews 10:22; 11:6). Why is it important to enter God’s presence with the mindset of His grace and mercy? How can we enter with confidence, yet not arrogance?

8. What are some things that you need help with from God? Have you taken your burdens to Him (cf. Matthew 11:28)? Take some time to come before your heavenly Father and ask Him for help and guidance.
