Life Group Questions

1. If you were not able to hear this week’s sermon, consider going to the church website and listening to it. What main ideas did you gain from the message? Do you have any questions?

2. Describe your understanding of what it means that nothing can hinder God in carrying out His plan. Can people’s actions (e.g., sin, disobedience, a lack of faith, etc.) hinder God’s plans? Explain.

3. Why is the idea of God as the Creator of all things helpful in understanding His ability to do all things (cf. Jeremiah 32:17, 26)? How should that encourage us? Describe the power of God as expressed in our salvation (cf. Ephesians 2:1-5).

4. Read 1 Samuel chapters 13 and 14. Describe the contrast between Saul and Jonathan from the writer’s perspective. What stands out to you about Jonathan? What stands out to you about his armor-bearer (cf. 14:7)?

5. Do you believe we should seek opportunities to do the impossible? Did the Lord tell Jonathan to look for the enemy, or was that on his own? Was he wrong for what he did, or should he serve as an example for us to follow? Explain.

6. What great, amazing things should we ask the Lord to do (cf. Ephesians 1:17-19; 3:20-21)? What are some amazing things you would like the Lord to do in your life? What great works would you like to see happen at Macedonia Church?

7. How important is it for Christians to surround themselves with faithful, loyal friends? What does it mean to be a faithful friend (cf. Philippians 2; 2 Timothy 4:16-18)? Take the time this week to express your gratitude to those who have been your faithful friends.
