1. If you could not hear this week’s sermon, consider going to the church website and listening to it. What main ideas did you gain from the message? Do you have any questions?

2. Describe your understanding of the Biblical doctrine “the depravity of man.” How does the Bible address the idea of man’s depravity (cf. Genesis 6:5; Joshua 24:19; Psalm 14:1-3; John 3:19; Titus 1:15-16). Do you believe that there are none who are naturally righteous? Explain your answer.

3. Describe some of the ways in which Israel displayed their depravity with respect to religion, ethics and morals. Describe some ways in which you see the depravity of mankind manifested today in our culture.

4. Define Christian unity. What are some of the key elements which indicate the presence of Christian unity? Describe a time in which you experienced Christian unity. How important is Christian unity to the health of a church?

5. Have you ever experienced disharmony and disunity in a church? What are some factors that contribute to disunity (cf. James 4:1-2; 1 Corinthians 3:1-4)? Why do you think God hates disunity so much (cf. Proverbs 6:16-19)?

6. Read Ephesians 4:1-5. What does it mean to be eager to maintain the unity of the Spirit? According to this Ephesian’s passage, what is the source of true Biblical unity? List at least three ways in which Paul draws attention to God’s model of unity.

7. Would you describe Macedonia Church as a church where Christian unity exists? Why or why not? What are some ways in which we can grow in unity? What are some ways in which you can help encourage and promote unity at our church?

8. The writer of Judges uses terms depicting unity when describing Israel’s actions (cf. 20:1, 7, 8). Do you think Israel had true unity? Why or why not? In what way might their confrontation of sin serve as a good example for us (cf. Galatians 6:1; James 5:19-20; Matthew 18:15-17)?

9. What is the significance of Judah being mentioned at the beginning and end of the book of Judges? Do you think there is any significance with Judah being designated as God’s chosen vessel? Read the following passages and describe any significance associated with God’s chosen vessels: Isaiah 11:1-2; 42:1; Luke 23:35; Revelation 5:5.
