1. If you were not at this week’s sermon, consider going to the church website and listening to it. What main ideas did you gain from the message? Do you have any questions?

2. Describe some of the elements of the covenant made between Jonathan and David. Why do you think they made a covenant with each other? How do the covenants of God differ from those of people?

3. Read Hebrews 8:1-13. What is the difference between the Old Covenant and the Old Testament? Describe the basics of the Old Covenant. Why was the Old Covenant deficient? Why is the New Covenant better than the old?

4. How do we know that God loves us? List at least three crucial aspects of God being our Father. How does having God as our Father benefit us (cf. Deuteronomy 1:30-31; Matthew 7:9-11; 1John 3:1; John 14:1-3)?

5. In what way did Jonathan serve as a mediator between Saul and David? Why did David need a mediator? Describe the role of Christ as our Mediator (cf. 1Timothy 2:5; John 5:19-23; 17:1-26; Hebrews 9:15).

6. List at least five promises God has given to His people. Describe the meaning of eternal life (cf. John 17:3). How do we gain eternal life? How do we know for sure that we have eternal life?
