Life Group Questions

1. If you were not at this week’s sermon, consider going to the church website and listening to it. What main ideas did you gain from the message? Do you have any questions?

2. Are you surprised to see the Spirit of God associated with the happenings of this passage? Why did the Spirit cause Saul and the others to prophesy? What do you think the prophecy was about?

3. Look at the following passages and list at least three observations about the Spirit of God: Genesis 1:2; Exodus 31:1-3; 1 Corinthians 2:11; 1 John 4:2.

4. What does it mean to be a godly friend? Who are some of your friends who encourage you in godliness? Why is it important to surround ourselves with friends who love God (cf. Proverbs 27:9; 1 Corinthians 15:33; Ecclesiastes 4:9)?

5. How has the Spirit of God worked in your life? Describe some ways in which the Spirit of God has influenced and directed you (cf. Acts 1:8). What does it mean to be filled with the Spirit (cf. Ephesians 5:18)?

6. Why does God work in mysterious ways (cf. Deuteronomy 29:29)? What are some of God’s works that should cause us to marvel (cf. Romans 11:33-36; Ecclesiastes 11:5; John 3:8)?

7. Read Joel 2:28-29 and describe the meaning and application of this passage. Do you believe God is still pouring out His Spirit upon people? How does the presence of God’s Spirit change our life?
