Life Group Questions

1. If you could not hear this week’s sermon, consider going to the church website and listening to it. What main ideas did you gain from the message? Do you have any questions?

2. What was it about the children of Israel in this passage that caused God to say, No more (cf. 10:13)? Why has it taken so long within the book of Judges for God to say, “Enough”? What did it mean for God to say, “Enough”?

3. Do you think God ever becomes impatient with us? Do you think God ever becomes angry with us? Why or why not? What are some things that possibly make God angry? Do you think you have ever made God angry? Explain.

4. For the first time in Judges, the writer tells us that the people confessed that they had sinned against God (cf. 10:10, 15). Yet, God did not automatically respond as they wished. Why didn’t their confession bring salvation from their enemy? What is the meaning of confession? What part does action play in the confession of sin? Why are words alone sometimes insufficient?

5. Do you have any sin for which you need to make a confession? Are there any things you have done or are doing which necessitate you saying, “I have sinned against you, God”? Are you willing to confess and turn from your sin? Do so!

6. Instead of being seen as impatient, why might it be good for us to see God as patient with Israel (cf. 10:6)? In what way did the actions of Israel warrant God’s discipline? What does it mean that the people “forsook” the Lord? Name some ways in which we can be guilty of forsaking the Lord.

7. The writer tells us that the people did not serve the Lord (cf. 10:6). In what way did they fail to serve God? Do you think the Lord still expects us to serve Him? Are you serving the Lord with your life? What are some ways in which we should serve Him?
