Life Group Questions
2) When you think about our study through the book of 1Samuel what events, characters, themes, etc., stand out to you? How do the following passages remind us of the importance of studying through books like 1Samuel: Roman 15:4; 1Corinthians 10:11; 2Timothy 3:16?
3) Consider the character David and describe what events in his life stand out to you? Compare David’s character with Saul’s. How are they different? What does the writer tell us about David and Saul (cf. 1Samuel 13:13-14, 1Samuel 16:7, 13-14)?
4) We are reminded that David was a man after God’s own heart (cf. 1Samuel 13:14, Acts 13:21-23). What events show that David was a man after God’s heart?
5) We can see that David had a heart bent toward God. What do the following passages tell us about David’s confidence in the Lord as he sought Him: Psalm 27:1-8; 63:1-5; 105:1-4?
6) David was obviously a man who demonstrated faith in God. How does David’s encounter with the 9-foot giant show us his faith (cf. 1Samuel 17:33-37)? How does David’s faith in God help us when we face the “giants” in our life (cf. Psalm 20:7, Psalm 40:1-4)?
7) Read Psalm 19. How does this Scripture show us David’s love for God and His word? How are God’s laws, testimonies, precepts, and commandments encouraging to you? How can we have a heart after God like David?
