Life Group Questions

1. If you were not at this week’s service, consider going to the church website and listening to the sermon. What main ideas did you gain from the message? Do you have any questions?

2. Describe the significance of blood to the human body. What is it about blood that makes it so important? Why do you think some people pass out when they see blood?

3. Read the following passages: Genesis 9:3-6; 4:1-11. What do these passages express about the relationship between blood and life? What did God mean by saying that Abel’s blood had a voice and cried out to Him?

4. Read Genesis 3:1-21. List at least three observations about Adam and Eve’s covering and that which God provided for them. What does the account of God providing coverings of skin imply and communicate?

5. Our passage references the account of Exodus 24:1-8. Why did Moses throw blood on the people and the book? What message do you think this act of Moses expressed to the people? How would you have responded in this situation?

6. How is Christ a better mediator of the New Covenant than Moses was of the Old Covenant (Exodus 3:1-12 and Isaiah 42:1-7)? What does it mean that Christ is the mediator between us and God?

7. Read John 19:28-30. What was it that Jesus “finished” by dying on the cross? Of what benefit is the death of Christ to us (Romans 14:9; 5:17)?

8. How does the blood of Christ cleanse us from sin? Does it seem strange to say we must be “washed in the blood” of Christ? Read the following passages and provide at least two observations or insights: Ephesians 1:3-10; 2:13; Colossians 1:19-20.
