2. What does it meant to be led by the Holy Spirit? Describe a time when the Spirit led you. Why is it important to be led by the Spirit?

3. Describe some of the roles and functions of the Holy Spirit in the believer’s life (cf. John 14; 16; Acts 1:8; Ephesians 1:13; 4:30; Romans 8:26-27; etc.). Describe the activity of the Holy Spirit in your personal life. How often do you recognize and sense the Spirit at work in your life?

4. What does it mean to follow Christ (cf. John 1:43; Mark 1:16-17; Mark 8:34; Matthew 19:21)? How do we know if we are following Christ? What is the difference between following Christ and being led by the Holy Spirit?

5. Look at the beginning and end of our passage. What common themes do you see in verses 16 and 25? Why do you think the writer placed these ideas as the beginning and end of the section?

6. Why do you think the Holy Spirit often gets overlooked for his importance and significance? Do you think we have somehow associated his “third place” (cf. Matthew 28:19, creeds and confessions, etc.) with his role and value? Explain your thoughts.
