2. Read Psalm 150. Why do you think the Psalmist chose to close the book of Psalms with the topic of praise? How does this psalm relate to the previous psalms in content and form? How do the beginning and end of the psalm emphasize the main idea?
3. Look at the following passages and describe some of the different words that are used to describe the act of praise: Psalm 32:2; 84:4; 105:3; 47:1; 103:1-5; Philippians 1:9-11. Describe in your own words what it means to praise the Lord.
4. Why is God worthy of praise (cf. Psalm 148:13; 145:3; 118:1-4; 21:13)? What are some things for which you have praised the Lord? How is it that God is worthy of praise regardless of our circumstances in life? How would you encourage someone going through challenging circumstances to praise the Lord?
5. Ponder Charles Spurgeon’s statement: “Doth not all nature around me praise God? If I were silent, I should be an exception to the universe.” How does all creation praise the Lord (cf. Psalm 19)? How can we praise God with our whole life and yet fulfill our earthly obligations and responsibilities?
