2. Read Hebrews 1 and state at least three observations. Why do you think the writer references so many Old Testament passages? What does the writer’s use of the Old Testament tell us about its connection to Christ?
3. List some occasions when God spoke to people in the Old Testament (e.g. Genesis 12; Exodus 3, etc.). What were some modes or manners in which God communicated to people? Does God still speak today, and if so, how? How do we know when God is speaking?
4. What does this section of Scripture teach us about the superiority of Christ? In what way is he superior to the fathers and the prophets? Describe some ways in which Christ is superior to the angels. Why is this significant?
5. How can Christ be the radiance of God’s glory and simultaneously be God? What does it mean that Christ is the exact imprint of God’s nature (cf. John 1:1)? Is Christ a “copy” of God, or should we describe him some other way? Explain.
6. What was the means by which Christ made purification for sins? Describe the importance of being purified from sin and how it should impact our lives (cf. 1Peter 2:1-9). What is the significance of Christ being seated at the right-hand of God (cf. Psalm 16:11; 48:10; 110:1)?
