Life Group Questions

1. If you were not at this week’s sermon, consider going to the church website and listening to it. What main ideas did you gain from the message? Do you have any questions?

2. Look up the topic of “sexual immorality” in a Bible dictionary. What kind of things are covered by this category of prohibitions (cf. Exodus 20; Leviticus 18)? Why do you think God is so strict about sexual conduct and misconduct (cf. Acts 15:20; 29; 21:25; Ephesians 5:3)?

3. Do you believe sexual activity outside the marriage relationship is a sin? What are some ways sexual immorality breaks down and destroys a marriage? What did Jesus mean when saying that one who commits sexual immorality sins against their own body (cf. 1Corinthians 6:18)? How does sexual immorality affect the human soul and body?

4. What does a person’s involvement in sexual immorality tell you about their heart (cf. Matthew 15:18-19)? Read Proverbs 5 and 7. What general principles can we take from these two chapters of wisdom literature?

5. What are some common reasons for people being involved in sexual immorality? What are some ways in which single people can deal effectively with sexual temptation (cf. Proverbs 5:7 -8; Job 31:1; 1Corinthians 6:18; 7:9; Genesis 39:12; 1Timothy 6:11)? What are some ways in which married couples can resist sexual temptation and help each other in the battle of sexual immorality (cf. 1Corinthians 7:1-5)?

6. How do we work toward restoring a person who is involved with and guilty of sexual immorality (cf. Galatians 6:1)? Describe some ways in which we can learn from our own and other’s mistakes in this area. What are some ways in which we can guard against the temptation of sexual immorality?
