Life Group Questions

1. If you were not at this week’s sermon, consider going to the church website and listening to it. What main ideas did you gain from the message? Do you have any questions?

2. What are some thoughts that come to your mind concerning the Old Testament Law? How does the Law relate to grace and faith? When you think of the Law, what particular person or people come to mind?

3. Under what condition does Paul say we are no longer under the Law (cf. vs. 18). What does it mean to be under the Law (cf. Galatians 3:24)? What does it mean to be released from the Law (cf. Romans 8:1-4)?

4. Does being free from the Law mean we can live however we want? Does freedom from the Law allow us to sin without consequences freely (Romans 6:1-4)? Explain.

5. Why was the Law given to Israel (cf. 3:19)? What was the guiding factor in Israel before the Law (cf. Jeremiah 7:21-24)? What was God’s plan for Israel and subsequent plan for all who have the Spirit of God (Exodus 19:5-6; 1Peter 2:9-10)?

6. How are you doing with living free from the Law? Do you enjoy your liberty in Christ or do you, like the Galatians, find yourself returning to the Law? Do you struggle with legalism in keeping rules and regulations to earn favor with God? Do you struggle with excess liberty? How can we rightly live free from the Law and honor Christ? Explain.
