Life Group Questions

1. If you were not able to hear this week’s sermon, consider going to the church website and listening to it. What main ideas did you gain from the message? Do you have any questions?

2. Discuss what it means to be “in Christ.” Is this something we do? Is this new identity for “anyone?” (cf. Colossians 2:6-11)

3. What does it mean to be a “new creation?” Read Ephesians 2:4-16 and list observations about this idea of being a “new creation.” How is this related to and different from Genesis 1-2?

4. While looking at Hebrews 12:1-2 and Ephesians 4:22,24, reflect on the work the Lord has done in your own life. How has He changed you from being “dead in your trespasses” to you now “taking off your old ways and putting on your new ways?”

5. Read Colossians 3:5-17 and compare and contrast the idea of the old self (3:5-9) and the new self (3:12-15). What stands out to you in these verses?

6. Discuss the idea of “reconciliation.” What does it mean that Christ reconciled us to Himself (cf. 2 Corinthians 5:18)? What does it mean that He gave us the “ministry” of reconciliation?

7. In verse 20, what does it mean that we are “ambassadors for Christ?” What responsibility does that place upon believers?

8. Reflect on 2 Corinthians 5:21. To what length did Christ go to save us? After studying our “old ways” and our “new life,” how can we as believers rejoice in what verse 21 is saying?
