Life Group Questions

1. If you were not able to hear this week’s sermon, consider going to the church website and listening to it. What are some main ideas that you gathered from the sermon? What, if any, questions did the sermon cause for you or do you desire to have additional clarification?

2. Define what it means to be a leader? What does it take for somebody to be a good leader? List some great leaders and what made them stand out to you.

3. What does our passage say about the responsibility of church leaders? To whom do these leaders give an account for their actions (cf. John 3:1)?

4. Why do you think the writer commands the readers to obey and submit to their leaders? Is it ever right to not obey and submit to leaders (cf. Acts 4:19)? Explain.

5. What are tangible ways in which the church body can help the leaders carry out their calling with joy? Why wouldn’t it be advantageous for the leaders if joy did not accompany the leaders in their duties?

6. How does it make you feel to know church leaders are to watch over your soul? Does it seem like this kind of activity is too personal? What are some things leaders can do to guard the souls of others?

7. Read the following passages and provide at least three observations about leaders: Acts 20:1-18; Ephesians 4:11; 1 Peter 5:1-5.
