Life Group Questions

1. If you were not at this week’s sermon, consider going to the church website and listening to it. What main ideas did you gain from the message? Do you have any questions?

2. What does it mean to stand for the Lord in the midst of our generation? What things will we need to expose and/or even oppose in order to be faithful to the Lord? How do you struggle with standing against our worldly culture?

3. How do you balance the ideas of Jesus being true peace while also being the source of division? Why did Jesus cause division during his life (cf. John 7:1-44)? What did Jesus mean when he said he came to bring a sword instead of peace (cf. Luke 12:51-53; Matthew 10:34-39)?

4. What does it mean to be wise (cf. Proverbs 1:1-7)? From where does true wisdom come? How do we gain wisdom (cf. James 1:5)? How do we discern between true and false wisdom?

5. Describe the kind of friendship expressed by Jonathan to David (cf. vss. 15-18). Why do you think the writer makes a point to tell us about Jonathan visiting David? What are some ways we can refresh others (cf. 2Timothy 1:16; 2Corinthians 7:13; Philemon 1:7; Proverbs 17:17; 18:24)?

6. From where did David’s true source of protection and security come (cf. vs. 14)? Read the following passages and describe the steadfast protection of God for his people: Genesis 31:6; Psalm 121; Romans 8:28; John 10:27-30.
