2 Samuel 7:4-7

Life Group Questions

1. If you were not at this week’s sermon, consider going to the church website and listening to it. What main ideas did you gain from the message? Do you have any questions?

2. What does it mean that God has a plan? Do you think God has everything planned out? How much of your life does God have planned (cf. Jeremiah 1:5; 29:11)? Describe the overarching plan of God (cf. 2Timothy 1:9; 2Corinthians 2:7-10)?

3. How does God’s plan differ from ours (cf. Isaiah 55:8-9)? Do you think that God’s plan is surprising at times? Can you think of a time when God’s plan surprised you? How did you respond?

4. What are some things about Nathan that stand out to you in this passage? Do you think it was difficult for him to approach David with God’s message? Have you ever had to tell someone that God had plans differing from theirs? How did you do that, and how did it go?

5. Why do we struggle with embracing God’s plans over ours sometimes? Have you struggled with wanting to do something, only to have God say, “No”? What are some ways in which we can encourage other people to embrace God’s plan?

6. What are some ways in which God communicates his plans (cf. Hebrews 1:1-2; 2Timothy 3:16)? Do you think God still communicates his plans to us through other people (cf. Acts 8-9)? How do we know the plan of God (cf. Ephesians 5:15)?
