2. Define dissension as described in a Bible dictionary or lexicon. Why do you think dissension and division is so dangerous to a church body (cf. Ephesians 1:1-14)?

3. What does it mean to find our identity in Christ? How does identity in Christ resolve feelings of insecurity and doubts? What are some indications that we are not exercising identity in Christ?

4. Why does God consider sowing discord among brothers so offensive (cf. Proverbs 6:16-19)? What are some things we should watch out for to help identify and address dissension?

5. Read Romans 16:17 and provide three observations about dissensions. Why do you think Paul provided this warning at the end of his letter? How does Paul’s warning fit in with the teaching of Romans and especially his final words in Romans 16?

6. How does having a sure foundation of solid Biblical doctrine help prevent dissensions (cf. Ephesians 6:10-20)? How did Satan use dissension to damage the relationship between the first man and woman and then between them and God (cf. Genesis 3)?
