1. If you were not able to hear this week’s sermon, consider going to the church website and listening to it. What main ideas did you gain from the message? Do you have any questions?

2. Read Exodus 19 and the events of Mount Sinai. Describe the tone of this scene. Why do you think God appeared with such fury and power? What does this tell us about God?

3. Describe the biblical and theological significance of Mount Zion (1 Chronicles 11:5; 2 Chronicles 5:2; Psalm 2:6; 9:11; 53:6; Isaiah 28:16; 52:7; Micah 4:2; Revelation 14:1).

4. Why does the writer contrast between coming to Mount Sinai and Mount Zion? What are the advantages of coming to Mount Zion? Why is Mount Zion better than Mount Sinai?

5. How does knowing that God is the Living God challenge and encourage us as Christians (cf. Hebrews 3:12; 10:31)? What does it mean that God is the Judge of all (cf. Genesis 18:25)? How are those who reject Christ judged? What is the judgment of God for Christians?

6. How were Moses and Jesus similar mediators (cf. Deuteronomy 4:10-14)? Describe the superiority of Jesus as our Mediator. How does Jesus mediate between God and us?

7. Read Jeremiah 31 and describe the New Covenant. How does the New Covenant differ from the Old Covenant? Consider and evaluate your own life. What evidence do you have that you are a beneficiary of the New Covenant?
