Life Group Questions

1. If you were not at this week’s sermon, consider going to the church website and  listening to it. What main ideas did you gain from the message? Do you have any  questions? 

2. What does it mean to rest? Do you have specific times set aside to physically rest from your responsibilities and routines? List some ways in which you like to rest. What challenges do you face with trying to rest? 

3. Describe what it means that God rested (Hebrews 4:4)? Does God need to rest? Does God get tired or exhausted (cf. Psalm 141)? How does God’s rest in Genesis 2:1-2 set an example for us? Why does God command us to rest (cf. Exodus 20:8-11)? 

4. Describe what it means to enter into God’s rest (cf. Hebrews 4:1; 11)? Is God’s rest something we can enter into now or is it something for the future? Explain. 

5. What does it mean to fear God (cf. Acts 10:35; 1 Peter 2:17; Psalm 2:11; 1 Peter 1:17;  2:17)? Does God want us to be scared of Him?Why does the writer of Hebrews want us to be concerned about missing God’s rest? Are you concerned for yourself about this? Explain. 

6. What distinguished those of Israel who entered God’s rest from those who failed to enter it? What is the key factor in enjoying God’s rest?  

7. Read Deuteronomy 30:1-20. What are the two options Moses presented to the people of Israel? Which camp of people would describe you? Which choice are you making with your life? 

8. What has God been speaking to you about lately? In what areas of life is He calling you to grow? Is there anything God has been asking you to do? Has God been convicting you of any sin that you need to confess and repent of? Will you surrender your life to Christ TODAY (cf. Luke 9:23)?
