2. Why do you think the Apostle Paul gives instruction to be alert? Why do Christians need to be on guard (cf. 1Peter 5:8, Mark 13:33-37)?

3. What does it mean to be “steadfast”? Why is it important for believers to be firm in their faith (cf. Psalm 1)? Think of a time when you had to stand firm in your faith, how did the Lord give you comfort (cf. James 1:12)?

4. What does Paul mean when he says “act like men”? Why is it important for Christians to be mature in the faith?

5. Paul gives the command to “be strong”. Is this a strength that we need to make for ourselves, or is this strength in the Lord? How does Moses song in Exodus 15:1-18 remind us of the strength and power of the Lord?

6. Paul gives the command for believers to take action, to be strong, mature, alert, and steadfast. According to verse 14 what should be the tone of all that we do? Why is it important to love one another (cf. John 13:35, 1Corinthians 13:1-13, Galatians 5:22)?

7. When you read these verses and ponder the instruction given, what areas of these do you need to work on? How do these encourage, challenge, or teach you? Consider the promise of Psalm 37:5.
