Life Group Questions

1. If you were not at this week’s sermon, consider going to the church website and listening to it. What main ideas did you gain from the message? Do you have any questions?

2. Based on the story before us, how do we know that David desired to honor God? What evidence is there from David’s reactions that show us his heart for God?

3. Why do you think David was so upset with himself for cutting Saul’s robe? Considering the circumstances, do you think he overreacted? Why is it so important for us not to return evil for evil (cf. Proverbs 25:21; Romans 12:15-21; 1Peter 3:8-12)?

4. What does it mean to be convicted of sin (cf. John 16:7-11; Hebrews 3:7-11; 12:3-6)? How do we know when conviction is from God and not other people or our own sense of guilt? What is the remedy for dealing with the guilt of our actions?

5. How is Saul’s response and attitude to David different from before? Does it seem that Saul actually moved on from his resentment, envy, and animosity toward David? Explain.

6. What are some ways in which you can do better at living a righteous life (cf. Romans 6:12-13; Psalm 19:7-11; 2Timothy 3:16)?
