Life Group Questions

1. If you were not at this week’s sermon, consider going to the church website and listening to it. What main ideas did you gain from the message? Do you have any questions?

2. How would you describe the life of Samuel according to what we know from Scripture? What are some highlights of his character? What are some failures he dealt with in life?

3. Describe the prominence of Samuel in the Bible (cf. Hebrews 11:32; Acts 3:24; 13:20; Psalm 99:6; Jeremiah 15:1; 1Chronicles 29:29; 35:18)

4. Why does the writer highlight the idea that Samuel was a servant (cf. 1Samuel 2:18; 3:1, 4, 10; etc.)? Describe the relationship between servanthood and leadership.

5. How did Samuel demonstrate his passion and boldness for truth (cf. 1Samuel 3:1-19; 7:3; 8:18; 12:3, 16; 15:34)? Would you describe yourself as one with a similar passion and boldness? Where do you need to grow in the area of passion for truth?

6. Describe Samuel’s obedience and commitment to the Lord (cf. 1Samuel 16:1-4; 7:15). Read 1Samuel 15:22 and reflect on God’s desire for the priority of obedience. In what area of life, or specific act, is God calling you to obey him? Are you willing to obey God with all your heart?
