Galatians 5:16-25

Life Group Questions

1. If you were not at this week’s sermon, consider going to the church website and listening to it. What main ideas did you gain from the message? Do you have any questions?

2. What does it mean that the Word of God is God-breathed (cf 2Timothy 3:16)? How does the idea of inspiration affect our understanding of the Word of God; its attributes and characteristics?

3. Read 1Thessalonians 2:13 and list at least three things for which Paul was thankful. How did the Thessalonian believers view Scripture? What are some essential characteristics of Scripture brought out by Paul?

4. What does it mean that the Word of God is alive (cf. Hebrews 4:12)? What is the work of the Word of God (cf. Isaiah 55:10-11)? What did Jeremiah mean when he said that he ate the Word of God (cf. Jeremiah 15:16)? How do we eat the Word (cf. Matthew 4:4)?

5. Read Psalms 1, 19, and 119. List at least seven characteristics of the Word of God. What are some of the different synonyms used for the Word of God? How do these synonyms help define the Word and its effect?

6. In Deuteronomy 11:18-19 and Joshua 1:1-9 there is some specific instruction given for how we are to respond to and regard the Word of God. Read these passages and describe some ways in which you need to grow in your response to the Word.
