Life Group Questions

1. If you were not able to hear this week’s sermon, consider going to the church website and listening to it. What main ideas did you gain from the message? Do you have any questions?

2. Why do you think God asked Samuel how long he would continue to grieve over Saul? Why was Samuel grieving over Saul? How do we know when it is time to “move on” in situations (cf. Philippians 3:13-14)

3. Do you believe the Lord has a plan He is directing? How extensive is God’s plan and to what degree does He control everything (cf. Daniel 4:34-35; Isaiah 46:8-11; Psalm 33:11; Jeremiah 1:5)? Explain God’s plan for your life.

4. What does it mean that God looks at a person’s heart? What does the heart represent? What is the problem with the natural man’s heart (cf. Jeremiah 17:9; Genesis 6:5; Psalm 51:10)? How is a person’s heart corrected (Ezekiel 36:26-27)?

5. Have you ever noticed God works in unlikely and humanly impossible ways? Why do you think God uses imperfect and incapable people (cf. 1 Corinthians 1:26-29)? How can God get glory from using us in our weakness?

6. Read Luke 17:1-10 and meditate on verse 10. Do you think we are correct to regard ourselves as “unworthy servants?” List at least three things that are our duty to God.
