Life Group Questions

1. If you were not at this week’s sermon, consider going to the church website and listening to it. What main ideas did you gain from the message? Do you have any questions?

2. What ideas come to mind when you hear the word impurity? Are impurities usually a good thing or a bad thing? What are some reasons why we typically work to eliminate impurities?

3. Paul is somewhat generic when he says that impurities are a work of the flesh. What are some specific examples of impurities that can contaminate the Christian (cf. Leviticus 18:20; 19:31; 22:8; Jeremiah 2:23; Psalm 106:39)?

4. Why is the issue of impurity such a damaging factor in the Christian life? How does impurity impact our relationship with God (cf. Romans 1:24; Ephesians 4:17-20; 5:3; Colossians 3:5; 1 Thessalonians 4:7; Hebrews 10:22)?

5. What are some ways in which impurities are removed from things (e.g., in water, air, metals, etc.)? How are impurities corrected in the Christian’s life (cf. Psalm 51:1-7; Ezekiel 36:25-27; James 4:8-10; 1John 1:9)?

6. Read the story of John 13:1-10 and list at least three observations. What is the difference between the spiritual concept of bathing the body and washing the feet that Jesus mentioned to Peter? Have you been spiritually bathed by Jesus? Do you need to be washed by Jesus?
