Galatians 5:16-25

Life Group Questions

1. If you were not at this week’s sermon, consider going to the church website and listening to it. What main ideas did you gain from the message? Do you have any questions?

2. What are some things that come to mind when you consider the idea of self-control? How can self-control advance your testimony about God? Describe how a lack of self- control hinders your testimony?

3. What are some areas in which you struggle with self-control? Do you believe that the Spirit of God can enable you to overcome these weaknesses? List some ways in which we can strengthen our self-control?

4. Do you think Jesus ever struggled with self-control? Why or why not? Read the following passages and describe how Christ serves as our perfect example of self- control: Luke 22:41-42; Matthew 26:53; 27:12; Philippians 2:5-11.

5. Read 2Peter 1:1-9. List at least three observations from this passage about self- control.

6. Read 1Corinthians 9:24-27. How does self-control help us in our Christian walk? What are some common ways in which we need to discipline ourselves? List a few items Paul may have meant when he wrote to have self-control in all things.

7. Read 2Timothy 3:1-5. Describe some modern day examples of the world’s lack of self-control. What does Paul mean when he says to avoid such people?
