Life Group Questions

1. If you were not at this week’s service, consider going to the church website and listening to the sermon. What main ideas did you gain from the message? Do you have any questions?

2. What are some thoughts that come to mind when you think about the Day of the Lord? What exactly is meant by the Day of the Lord (cf. Amos 5:18-20; 2 Peter 2:9; 1 Thessalonians 5:2-5; Hebrews 9:28)

3. What is the significance of the word “therefore” in Hebrews 10:19? What is the writer referencing with the use of this word? Explain how sound biblical theology can and should shape our lives.

4. What does it mean to be confident in Christ? How is confidence different from arrogance (cf. Ephesians 3:12; Hebrews 4:15-16)? What is your understanding about the idea of drawing near to God? Describe some ways we can draw near to God.

5. List some blessings we experience because Christ is our High Priest. How does Christ provide a new and living way? How is the way of Christ and what He offers different from that of the Old Testament priests?

6. Read the following passages: Deuteronomy 6:4; Psalm 24:1-5; Hebrews 3:12; 1 Corinthians 6:11; Ephesians 5:26. What is required for us to draw near to God? Explain what it means to have your heart sprinkled clean and your body washed by Christ. Do you feel this has happened to you? Explain.

7. What is our confession of Christ (cf. Hebrews 3:1)? What does it mean to hold fast to your confession (cf. Hebrews 4:14)? Explain the instructions which Paul gave to Timothy in 1 Timothy 6:12-13.

8. Describe someone that has been an encouragement to you. What are some ways in which we can encourage one another in good works and love? Why is gathering together with other believers so important to our Christian faith?
