2. Why do you think God allows us to face difficulties in life (cf. 2Corinthians 4:7-10)? Describe a time in which God took a very difficult situation in your life and turned it into something good (cf. Romans 8:28)? Explain your thoughts about Job 2:9.

3. Describe the meaning of kindness. What should be our motives for showing kindness (cf. Matthew 6:1; 2Corinthians 1:3-4)? What are some things required for showing genuine kindness (cf. 1Corinthians 13:3-5; Philippians 2:3-4)?

4. Do you think it is wrong to judge another person’s motives (1John 4:1; John 7:24)? What are some difficulties involved with discerning someone’s motives (cf. 1Corinthians 2:11; Matthew 7:15-16; Hebrews 4:12; 5:14)? Describe a time when your were wrongly judged by someone and a time when you wrongly judged another person.

5. What does the Bible mean by bad company ruins good morals (cf. 1Corinthians 15:33)? What are some ways in which bad influences come into our lives? What are some ways in which we can limit bad influences? Consider the following passages: Psalm 1:1, Proverbs 12:26, and 13:20.

6. List at least three observations about Joab’s actions with regard to the battle. Would you agree that the battles of life require a united effort (cf. Romans 12:1-6; Philippians 1:27-28; 1Peter 5:8-9)? What are some battles you need help with. What are some battles in which you need to help others? Maybe you should consider “joining forces.”
