Life Group Questions

1. If you were not at this week’s service, consider going to the church website and listening to the sermon. What main ideas did you gain from the message? Do you have any questions?

2. Read the following passages: Hebrews 2:1; 3:12-14; 4:11-16; 6:1; 11-12; 10:24-25; 12:1-2; 12:12-14. How does the writer of Hebrews exhort and encourage his readers to grow spiritually?

3. Describe someone you know that is mature in their Christian faith. What are some indications that they are mature? What were some things that led to their maturing (e.g., habits, practices, disciplines, restraints, etc.)?

4. Read Philippians 3:12-16 and describe Paul’s attitude about his own Christian development. What sort of things do you think Paul had to forget about from his past so that he might press on toward Christ? What are some things you may need to leave in the past so that you can move forward in Christian maturity?

5. What does it mean to have Christ as our foundation? What is so important about making sure your foundation is solid (cf. Matthew 7:24-27; Ephesians 2:19-22)? How can we have confidence that our foundation consists of Christ alone?

6. Provide some observations and explanations about Hebrews 6:3 (cf. James 4:15; Colossians 1:1; 4:12; 1 Thessalonians 4:3). How can we know the will of God? What is the will of God for your life? Has God been speaking to you and directing you according to His will? Explain.

7. Why is holiness so important to our spiritual development (cf. Hebrews 12:14)? Have you ever read through the Bible? Why is it so important for Christians to read Scripture? What books, teachers and other sources have you found helpful for growing in Christ?
