Life Group Questions

1. If you were not at this week’s sermon, consider going to the church website and listening to it. What main ideas did you gain from the message? Do you have any questions?

2. What strikes you about the way in which David dealt with Uriah? What deceptive measures did David use to try to manipulate Uriah? Why is deception wrong and hurtful (cf. Leviticus 19:11; Proverbs 6:16-19)?

3. Compare and contrast the acts and attitude of Uriah with those of David. List some ways in which Uriah outshined David. What characteristics of Uriah stand out to you the most?

4. Would it have been wrong for Uriah to go down to his house in this case (cf. 2Timothy 2:3-4; Luke 9:23; 57-62)? Explain your thoughts. What might have been appealing for Uriah to go to his house? List some things that attempt to lure us away from duty and loyalty as Christians?

5. Why do you think that the passage mentions the ark of God and the tribe of Judah? What significance should we associate with these two ideas? How did Uriah’s concerns and interests compare with David’s?

6. What does it mean to be devoted to the things of God? What limits, if any, are there to making the Kingdom of God a priority (cf. Matthew 6:23)?
