2. How do you think our world defines kindness? What are some common characteristics of
kindness? What are some major differences between the world’s view of kindness and that of
Scripture?

3. What does it mean that God is kind (cf. Exodus 34:6; Psalm 36:5; 86:5-15)? Does God’s
wrath and judgment hinder his kindness? How can God be both judge and kind at the same
time? Explain your thoughts.

4. How did David allow his kindness to rise above circumstances with Saul? What are some
circumstances that may hinder our acts of kindness (cf. Luke 6:35-36; Matthew 5:44-45;
Ephesians 4:31-32)? What are some ways we can do better at allowing kindness to prevail in
all circumstances?

5. How did David’s love and commitment to Jonathan impact his kindness to Mephibosheth
(cf. 1Samuel 20:42)? What are some circumstances in which we should show kindness out of
