1. If you were not at this week’s sermon, consider going to the church website and listening to it. What main ideas did you gain from the message? Do you have any questions?

2. Genesis 3:15 is well known as the “First Gospel” because it speaks of the promise of Christ. What is the significance of the Gospel appearing at the beginning of the Bible? Do you think of the Gospel as primarily an Old Testament or New Testament teaching? What perspective did the New Testament writers have as regards this idea?

3. Describe Paul’s interpretation of Genesis 22:17 in Galatians 3:16. How might Paul’s interpretation differ from that of non-Messianic Jews? Why is it important to see Christ as the fulfillment of God’s promises?

4. How do we know the promises in 2Samuel 7 about David’s offspring are not primarily referring to Solomon? Do you think David understood this idea? Explain why or why not.

5. What is the house that David’s son would build for God? What kind of house is God talking about here (cf. Isaiah 28:16; Ephesians 2:20-22)? How do Moses and Jesus differ in honor for the house of God (cf. Hebrews 3)?

6. What are some ways in which we can build our life around Christ as the cornerstone (cf. 1Corinthians 3:1-13)? How are you doing with maintaining Christ as the foundation of your life? How are you doing with maintaining an eternal perspective on life (cf. Colossians 3:1-4)?
