2 Samuel 7:8

Life Group Questions

1. If you were not at this week’s sermon, consider going to the church website and listening to it. What main ideas did you gain from the message? Do you have any questions?

2. What does it mean that the Lord is good (cf. Psalm 145:9)? Describe some ways in which God has shown his goodness to you. What are some good gifts that God has given to you (cf. James 1:16-17)?

3. What stands out to you about 2Samuel 7:1-8? Are there any surprises in this passage to you? How would you describe the way in which God responded to David? Describe the sense and thrust of verse eight.

4. Why is it important to realize and understand that God is the one who seeks us? Reflect upon the way in which God sought Adam and Eve, Abraham, Moses, and Samuel (cf. Gen 3:9; Hebrews 11:8; Genesis 12:1-3; Exodus 3:1-4; 1Samuel 3:10-11).

5. Do you believe the Lord actively carries us through life (cf. Exodus 19:4-6; Deuteronomy 1:29-31; 32:10-12; Isaiah 46:3-4; 41:13)? How does the Lord carry us as believers (cf. John 14:25-26; 1Peter 5:6-7)? Describe some ways in which he has carried you through to this point.

6. Read the following passages and provide feedback concerning the idea of God lifting us up: Psalm 75:6-7; 1Samuel 2:7-8; 1Peter 2:9.
