1. If you were not at this week’s sermon, consider going to the church website and listening to it. What main ideas did you gain from the message? Do you have any questions?

2. Look up the Biblical word redemption and define its meaning. Briefly describe the use of this word in the Bible. What are some significant theological implications related to this topic?

4. Why do you think Ish-bosheth was so distraught after the death of Abner? What does his reaction tell us about his faith in God? Have you ever found yourself depending on another person more than on God? Describe why this is wrong and the problems that can arise from such actions (cf. Psalms 49, 118, 146).

5. In what ways do you need to grow in your commitment and understanding that the Lord alone is your redeemer (cf. Psalm 121; Lamentations 3:55-58; Job 19:23-27)? How do we know if we are faithfully trusting in God alone?

6. List some of the enemies that God has redeemed us from as Christians (cf. Psalm 18; Galatians 3:13; 4:4; Hebrews 9:15; 1Corinthians 15:55-58). Explain how the following passages challenge us in our response to God’s redemption (cf. Psalm 107; 1Corinthians 6:19-20; 1Peter 2:9).
