2. What are some everyday tasks that keep us from focusing on time with the Lord? How can we order our day to make sure we reserve time needed for the Lord? Explain why this is important.
3. Read the following passages and provide input about things that should be of great importance: Psalm 27:4; Mark 10:21; John 3:27; 9:25; Philippians 3:13-14.
4. Read the Luke passage and note at least three observations. Include in your observations issues related to the text as written by Luke, the use of names and nomenclature, and the nature and manner of responses.
5. Have you ever felt like Martha, that you are carrying the load while others “relax” and enjoy life? How does that make you feel? What attitudes will help us handle situations well? Describe some ways in which we may need to evaluate ourselves in such situations.
6. What are some things we can do to make sure service is not an end in itself? What is the purpose and goal of all service (cf. Ephesians 6:7; etc.)?
7. What does it mean to be at the feet of Jesus (cf. Acts 22:3; Luke 7:38, 44; 8:35, 41; 17:14-18)? Compare and contrast Martha’s and Mary’s choices. What was it that Jesus said would not be taken from Mary?
