Galatians 5:16-25

Life Group Questions

1. If you were not at this week’s sermon, consider going to the church website and listening to it. What main ideas did you gain from the message? Do you have any questions?

2. What does Paul mean when he states that there is no law concerning the fruit of the Spirit? How does the law differ from the Spirit? What was the purpose of the law (cf. Galatians 3:24)?

3. What does it mean to belong to Christ? How does that happen for a person? What are some ramifications of belonging to Christ? Describe how you (personally and in general) know you belong to Christ.

4. Is Paul stating that we crucify the flesh, or is it Christ who did that for us (cf. vs. 24)? If we have crucified the flesh, why do we still struggle with sin? How does crucifying the flesh relate to taking up our cross (cf. Luke 9:23-25)?

5. What does it mean to be alive? How does physical life differ from spiritual life (cf. John 1:12-13; 6:63)? How does our spiritual life give us hope for the life to come (cf. Romans 8:1-11)? What are some ways we can sow to the Spirit (cf. Galatians 6:8)?

6. Describe the manner of life and conduct God expects from His people (cf. Philippians 1:27-28; Ephesians 4:1-3; Colossians 1:9-12)? Are you keeping in step with the Spirit? What are some ways in which you need to grow?
