Psalm 103:1-5

Life Group Questions

1. If you were not at this week’s sermon, consider going to the church website and listening to it. What main ideas did you gain from the message? Do you have any questions?

2. Read Psalm 103:1-22. What are the benefits or blessings the Psalmist mentions to God in this Psalm? Discuss the difference between the way we bless the LORD and the way the LORD blesses us. Which words are you more comfortable using when speaking about the LORD’S blessings, bless the LORD or praise the LORD? Why?

3. According to verses 1 & 2, David was pouring out his whole heart and soul to the LORD. Read Matthew 22:37-40; Psalm 138:1-2. Discuss some ways we can improve on praising the LORD with all that is within us. What are some ways we can avoid forgetting all His benefits?

4. Since the subject of forgiveness of sin is a significant element in regeneration, discuss the meaning of sin. Read Romans 3:23; 14:23; James 4:17. Consider Wayne Grudem’s statement, “Sin is any failure to conform to the moral law of God in act, attitude, or nature.” Discuss King David’s sin according to 2Samuel 11:1-12:25.

5. Read Psalm 32:1-5; 51:1-12, 17; 103:10-12; Isaiah 43:25; 1Corinthians 6:9-11; Romans 8:1. Describe how important God’s total forgiveness is to you.

6. Read Psalm 103:3b. Discuss the extent of total healing the Psalmist was speaking about.

7. Read Psalm 103:4a; Exodus 6:6; Colossians 1:13-14; Matthew 20:28; Hebrews 9:12. Discuss what it means for you to have your life redeemed from the pit?

8. Read Psalm 103:4b; Psalm 63:3; Psalm 136:1; Lamentations 3:22-23. What does it mean for you to be able to experience God’s steadfast love and mercy?

9. Read Psalm 103:5; 107:9; 37:4; James 1:17. What does it mean for you to experience satisfaction with the good things of God? Does God want us to experience joy from these things? Explain.
