Life Group Questions

1. If you were not at this week’s sermon, consider going to the church website and listening to it. What main ideas did you gain from the message? Do you have any questions?

2. What thoughts come to mind when you think of a servant? What is commonly associated with the idea of serving and working? Do you think that most people associate duty or joy with the idea of work and service? Explain.

3. What does it mean to serve the Lord? Do you think God intends for us to be his servants (cf. Genesis 2:15-17; Deuteronomy 10:12; 1Corinthians 6:19-20; 10:31; Ecclesiastes 12:13-14)?

4. What are some reasons that God brought Israel out of Egypt? What was God’s main reason for calling and delivering Israel (cf. Exodus 3; 4:21-23; 5:1-3; 8:1)? 5. How should the nature and character of God help us serve him with joy (cf. Psalm 95:1-6; 100)? What does it mean to serve the Lord with all of our heart? What are some ways in which we can serve the Lord through our duties and employment (cf. Colossians 3:23-24)?

6. Consider the following passages and describe how they can help us find joy in serving the Lord: 1Samuel 12:24; Psalm 40:8; 107:43; Matthew 6:26-29; 1Corinthians 15:58; Hebrews 12:1-3. Do you consider it joy to serve the Lord? How do you need to grow in this area of life?
