Galatians 5:16-25Life Group Questions
2. Look online for statistics related to alcohol (e.g., consumption in the U.S., accidents involving alcohol, domestic disputes, etc.). What are some things that stand out to you? Do you think we have a problem in our country with alcohol?
3. Why do most people laugh when they see a drunk person? How does a drunk person look and act (Proverbs 20:1)? What would you think of your boss, teacher, or another leader in your life if you saw them drinking alcohol? What would you think if you saw them drunk?
4. Explain your thoughts, from a biblical perspective, about the statement that “drinking alcohol is not necessarily a sin, but drunkenness is always a sin.” What are some cases where alcohol may be acceptable? What are some situations where alcohol may not be acceptable? Do you know somebody who has a drinking problem?
5. Read John 2:1-11 and provide at least three observations. Do you think that Jesus made real wine that contained alcohol? Why or why not? What is the significance of this being the first of Jesus’ signs? What exactly was the point of this sign (obviously, the passage is about more than making wine)?
6. What are some things related to the following areas that should be considered before consuming alcohol: age, finances, health, family background, character, testimony, duty, and devotion to God?
