3. How can we know that God loves us (cf. 1John 3:16)? How would you describe the extent of God’s love for us? How should God’s love encourage us to love other people and God?

4. What does it mean that God is love? How can our misunderstandings and misconceptions about love influence our thoughts about God? Explain how God’s attribute of love can work in conjunction with other characteristics like HIs sovereignty, justice, judgment, and vengeance?

5. Read 1John 4:7-12 and list at least three observations. What is the significance of God being the one who loved us first? How does this thought align with God being the source of Love?

6. Describe the meaning of God having unconditional love for His people. How did God’s unconditional love manifest itself to Israel (cf. Deuteronomy 7:1-11)? What does it mean that God elected and predestined us “in love” (cf. Ephesians 1:1-6)? Do you think most people think of God’s love in conjunction with predestination? Explain.
