Life Group Questions

1. If you could not hear this week’s sermon, consider going to the church website and listening to it. What main ideas did you gain from the message? Do you have any questions?

2. Do you believe God alone is in control of all things? To what extent is God in control? Do you think humankind, nature, or terrestrial beings ever cause God to change His plan? Explain.

3. Describe how it might have been possible for Israel to think God was not in control of their circumstances? Do you think they understood that God was in control? Why or why not? Do you ever struggle to believe that God is in control of your circumstances? Explain.

4. Read the following passages and provide any observations that come to mind: Genesis 15:7; 18:13-14; Exodus 6:6-8; Job 42; 2 Chronicles 20:5-7; Psalm 33:10; Proverbs 19:21; 21:1, 30-31.

5. Read Acts 2:22-24. Who was responsible for the crucifixion of Jesus Christ: sinful men or God? In what way was the crucifixion in accord with God’s plan and purpose? Does it seem wrong to think that God was in some way responsible for the torment of His Holy Son? Explain.

6. Take some time and explain how God has used a bad situation in your life for good (cf. Romans 8:27-30). Do you believe God still has a plan for His people to suffer? Do you struggle with accepting difficulties that come by way of God’s hand (Job 2:9-10)? Explain.

7. God allows us to experience adversity at times. Do you believe that? In what way has God allowed adversity in your life: in response to your disobedience, for testing your faith, helping you spiritually mature, and promoting your dependency on Him?

8. If you are going through a difficult time in life, maybe it is the Lord encouraging you to draw near to Him. Take some time to pray and ask God for wisdom to handle adversity. Ask the Lord to help you through this time of difficulty (Jeremiah 33:-3).
