1. If you could not hear this week’s sermon, consider going to the church website and listening to it. What main ideas did you gain from the message? Do you have any questions?

2. The Psalmist tells us to give thanks to the Lord for His steadfast love that endures forever. Describe the meaning of God’s steadfast love? What are some examples of the Lord’s steadfast love in Scripture? To the nation of Israel? For Paul in Romans 8:35-39? In your personal life?

3. Elaborate on some of the images in Scripture concerning the coming Messiah (cf. Micah 5:2; Isaiah 9:6; 11:1-5; 52:13; Psalm 2; Zechariah 9:9). What characteristics about the Messiah, Jesus Christ, stand out to you?

4. What does the Psalmist mean by stating, “Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord” (vs. 26)? What does it mean to bless or be blessed? How did Christ come in the name of the Lord? How was he blessed?

5. Describe some of the gifts which God has given to us. Read Galatians 4:4-5 and describe why God sent His Son. How should the idea of God creating all things through Christ shape our view of their relationship?

6. What does it mean that Jesus Christ is the light of the world (cf. John 8:12)? Explain the significance of Christ being the light of the nations. What darkness were you in when God saved you? How did God open your eyes to the truth?

7. What is the significance of Jesus bearing the title the Lamb of God (cf. John 1:29-30)? Describe any relationship you see between Isaiah 52:13 and Philippians 2:5-11. What does it mean that Christ is our Passover lamb?

8. Read Luke 12:35-40. List some observations from this passage. What is the main point of the passage? Do you sense that you are ready for the return of Christ? Do you feel the Lord is pleased with your life as a child of God? In what areas do you need to exercise more discipline and faithfulness? Take time to pray and ask the Lord for wisdom and endurance.
