Life Group Questions

1. If you were not at this week’s sermon, consider going to the church website and listening to it. What main ideas did you gain from the message? Do you have any questions?

2. List some common “warning signs” used today to encourage people to be safe. Do you ever feel like some signs are unnecessary? Describe a time when a warning sign actually helped you.

3. Judging from our passage, who do you think the writer is addressing? Are these Christians or unbelievers? Explain your answer and provide support from the text.

4. Do you think Christians need warnings about becoming hard-hearted or unbelieving? Why or why not? If God has changed our hearts as Christians, how is it that we can become hard-hearted and unbelieving?

5. Describe the significance of “today” in this passage? Do you ever feel like Christians either focus on the past or the future at the expense of the present? How can we make the most of each day we live (cf. Psalm 1:2; 90:12; Proverbs 8:34; Matthews 6:11)?

6. Why is it so important for Christians to encourage one another? What are some ways in which we can encourage one another? What kind of encouragement helps you strive for faithfulness to God?

7. What are some ways in which we can be deceived by sin (cf. 1 Corinthians 15:33; 2 Corinthians 11:3; Galatians 6:7)? What are some ways in which we can have victory over sin’s deception (cf. Hebrews 12:1; Ephesians 6:11)?

8. Read the following passages and provide some observations about the idea of reverence: Hebrews 5:7; 11:7; 12:14; 12:28-29.
